Entertainment and Theaters

Atlantic Brewing Company: As Bar Harbor's premier microbrewery we hope to allow visitors to Maine to experience as a memorable Bar Harbor activity their first intimate view of the brewery process. Maine has a fine heritage of microbreweries of various styles and Bar Harbor is not without its share.

We have been brewing our Bar Harbor Real Ale and Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale for over a decade and find loyal followers throughout Maine and the micro brewing world. We hope your visit to our truly unique brewery in the Bar Harbor countryside will be as much fun as it is for us.

Deckhouse Restaurant and Cabaret Theatre: The Deck House Restaurant and Cabaret Theatre is entering its twenty seventh season as one of New England's premier dining and entertainment establishments. Our original mission remains the same: good food, good service, and good entertainment. The "audience" generally arrives somewhere between 6:30 and 7:45 PM and orders from a full dinner menu (children's portions available on some menu entrees). Around 8:15, after most diners have been served their main courses, the houselights dim, and, while continuing service, the wait staff become the Players and present a "show" which consists of 13 individual numbers, a delightful mixture of solos, duets, quartets, and full group numbers.

Criterion Theater: Located in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, the Criterion Theatre first opened its doors on June 6th, 1932. The Criterion was used for vaudeville performances for many years during the heyday of the vaudeville circuit, as well as motion picture exhibition. The acoustics are excellent, and every aspect of the theater was designed specifically for the location, from the light fixtures to the carpets and wall fabrics.

One very special feature of the building is its "floating" balcony, one of a few of its kind. Not only is this free-hanging structure an architectural feat, it also offers some of the best seating in the house. The balcony is divided into nine sections (loges) separated from each other with half walls and from the back corridor with velvet curtains. Originally rented out by the box to the town's wealthy summer residents, these seats are now available to all, and offer an excellent birdseye view of the screen and stage.

Great Maine Lumberjack Show: YO HO! Welcome to The Great Maine Lumberjack Show, one of New England's premier edu-tainment centers! Our unique, home based, permanent logging sports facility is nestled in the picturesque Maine woods in Trenton, the Gateway to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor

Island Astronomy: The lobster boats of Bass Harbor and the mountains of Acadia National Park are just the start. Here, starlight meets granite, and ocean breezes blow far from city lights. Welcome to the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island, the universe is waiting for you. Island Astronomy; It's like no place on earth.

Galleries & Museums

Abbe Museum: The Abbe offers innovative exhibitions and programs on Maine's Native American heritage. In recent years the Abbe has grown from a small but lovely trailside museum, privately operated within Acadia National Park, to an exciting contemporary museum in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor.

Sieur de Monts Spring: The Sieur de Monts Spring plays a significant role in the history of Acadia National Park . It got its name from an early 1600's Lieutenant Governor of New France. This location, with its 1909 Springhouse built by the original Park's Superintendent, George B. Dorr, has come to symbolize the enthusiasm and contributions of Dorr and other early twentieth century citizens in the creation and preservation of Acadia National Park. This location includes part of the Abbe Museum, The Nature Center, and The Wild Gardens of Acadia.

Wendall Gilley Museum: A major showcase for the bird carvings of one of the 3 world renown pioneers of the art form - Wendell Gilley. Located in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Telephone no. 207-244-7555
